IndiGo Airlines is gearing up to introduce electric air taxis, marking a significant leap in urban transportation. The innovative solution, set to operate between Delhi and Gurugram, aims to provide faster, safer, and more environmentally friendly travel.

Partnering with American-based Archer Aviation, InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of IndiGo, plans to procure 200 electric aircraft. These electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles will accommodate up to four passengers each, piloted for enhanced safety.
This collaboration seeks to offer a swift and efficient travel alternative while minimizing environmental impact and reducing traffic congestion between the two cities.
The electric air taxis promise several benefits over traditional transport modes, including reduced noise levels compared to helicopters and enhanced safety features for passengers, ensuring a comfortable and secure journey.
Scheduled to commence operations by 2026, the air taxi service will offer fares ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 for the seven-minute journey between Delhi and Gurugram. This significantly reduces travel time and traffic hassles compared to the current 90-minute journey covering a distance of around 27 kilometers, with fares potentially reaching Rs 1,500.
