The Supreme Court on Monday resumed hearing of petitions on the NEET UG 2024 exam paper leak and said that it is an established fact that the paper was leaked. The counsel for a medical aspirant who appeared in the NEET UG 2024 exam told the Supreme Court that the National Examination Agency (NTA) has admitted the paper leak. The NDA has also accepted the fact that the NEET UG paper was circulated via WhatsApp.
The hearing began with a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud asking defence lawyers to submit their comments on the centre-wise and city-wise judgments issued on Saturday. The three-judge bench also comprises Justices JP Parthivala and Manoj Mishra.
NEET UG Exam 2024 SC Hearing Live Updates: Key Arguments and Observations
- Highlighting the scale of the paper leak, senior advocate Hooda says the NEET UG question paper was not leaked to 5-10 students by “a few peons”. He insists there is a gang behind the leak and raises the issue of no action being taken against Sanjeev Mukhiya and other culprits who have been involved in such paper leaks in the past.
- Senior advocate Hooda said, “The question paper got leaked even before it was deposited in the respective banks. This happened on or before May 3. His comment that it happened on the morning of the 5th is difficult to believe and contradicts the reports by the Bihar Police.”
- To the Chief Justice’s query on what the centre-wise and city-wise NEET results show, Hooda says, “We have submitted a note based on the data. They admit the paper leak, they admit it was circulated on WhatsApp. Bihar police officials say the leaked papers were distributed to students on May 4. The leak did not happen on the morning of May 5 as suggested.
- “The e-rickshaw does not carry the question paper, no doubt about that. But they say the photo is on the OMR sheet. The e-rickshaw is set up to carry the paper,” Chief Justice Chandrachud replied to senior advocate Hooda.
- “The question paper was carried in an e-rickshaw and I submitted it. They said OMR paper,” Live Law quoted Hooda as saying.
- “The NDA has released the results,” senior advocate Narender Hooda said. They have not given the All India rank, they have not given the serial number of the exam centres, they have given it centre wise, city wise. They have withheld the All India rank, the rank and the serial number of the exam centres.
