On Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the alleged corruption case linked to the Delhi liquor policy scam, BJP state unit chief Virendra Sachdeva on Wednesday said it was not surprising and was a stage in the legal process.
He said the CBI already has a separate preliminary case in which Kejriwal has already been summoned to the central agency’s office while former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has already been arrested in the case.
The BJP leader further said that Kejriwal’s arrest in the case filed by the Congress after Sisodia’s arrest is a demand of justice.
Sachdeva further claimed that the kind of sarcastic comments being made by AAP leaders on the high court’s verdict since yesterday evening reflects their lack of faith in the judiciary in a democracy.
The Delhi BJP chief said, “AAP and opposition leaders who believe that there is political vendetta against Arvind Kejriwal need to understand that if Kejriwal had not indulged in bribery, he would not fear vendetta today.”
He had said that if a person is involved in any crime, he should be ready to face the ultimate consequences. He targeted AAP leaders and claimed that they would play their old victim card again.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sachdeva had welcomed the Delhi High Court’s decision to stay the bail granted to the Delhi Chief Minister in the money laundering case.
