Mumbai/Pune, June 24, 2024: The parents of IT engineers Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, who tragically lost their lives in a Porsche accident in Pune, met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Mumbai today.
The Chief Minister assured them that the case will be investigated expeditiously and strict action will be taken against the culprits. He also announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the families of the deceased.
Aneesh Awadhiya (24) and Ashwini Koshta (24), residents of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, died on May 19 when a speeding Porsche driven by a minor hit their bike from behind. The fatal incident took place in Kalyani Nagar around 2:30 am. The police have detained the minor driver and arrested his parents, grandfather and the owners and employees of the pubs where the minor consumed alcohol.
Omprakash Avadhiya, father of Aneesh, and Suresh Koshta, father of Ashwini, met Chief Minister Shinde at his Varsha residence today. During the meeting, Shinde expressed his condolences and reiterated his commitment to ensure justice. He made it clear that despite the minor being released on bail immediately, extensive action has been taken against all those involved.
Shinde stressed that the government will make every effort to expedite the trial and ensure that the culprits are brought to justice soon.
Following the tragic incident, the Chief Minister directed Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to take strict action against the culprits to ensure that no one escapes. The families appreciated the speedy investigation and arrests made, and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Shinde for their support and efforts of the Maharashtra Government in getting justice for their children.
