NEET Paper Leak News: The government has come on the back foot regarding the NEET paper leak. Amidst the attacks of the opposition and the protests of the students, the government has come into action mode.
NEET Paper Leak: On the NEET paper leak controversy, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the interest of students is paramount for the government. He has also informed about the removal of Subodh Singh, the head of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the organization conducting the NEET exam. The Education Minister has said that a seven-member committee has been formed to reform the NTA. He also informed that the command of NTA has been given to a new officer.
Dharmendra Pradhan has taken strong action on NTA. Taking triple action on NEET amid allegations of paper leak, the Education Minister said that NTA DG Subodh Singh has been removed. In his place, Pradeep Singh Kharola, Chairman and Managing Director of India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), has been given the command of NTA. Pradhan said that the responsibility of investigating the alleged NEET paper leak has been handed over to the CBI.
Committee Formed to Reform NTA
The Education Minister said that a big decision has been taken in favor of the students. A high level committee has been formed under the leadership of former ISRO Chairman Dr. K Radhakrishnan to reform the NTA. It includes seven eminent researchers, scholars and scientists of the country, including former AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria. This committee will also work to improve the efficiency of the examination process, eliminate all possible irregularities, and strengthen data security protocols.
NEET UG exam was held on May 5. It was conducted at 4750 centers. 24 lakh students participated in this exam. Earlier, the result of NEET UG was to be declared on June 14, but the results were announced 10 days earlier i.e. on June 4. After the results were declared, allegations of paper leak started coming up, because many students got the same marks at many centers. Gradually it came to light that there was an incident of paper leak in Bihar as well.
