The man was accused of luring two girls from his neighbourhood inside his house by offering them chocolates.
New Delhi: Bittu Bajrangi, who is out on bail after being arrested in the violence in Haryana’s Nuh last year, has been caught on camera beating a member of a cow protection group with a stick. In the video that has now gone viral, a policeman can be seen standing at a distance from the man but remains a mute spectator.
The police are yet to register a case. Against Bittu Bajrangi
Police officials said the video was taken on April 1 and the victim was a resident of Sarurpur in Faridabad. The man, identified as Shamu, is accused of luring two girls from his neighbourhood to his house by offering them chocolates and locals suspect that he wanted to sexually abuse them. Some neighbours barged into the house and caught Shamu.
The news of the incident spread and members of Bajrangi’s cow protection group Goraksha Bajrang Force rushed to the spot and took Shamu with them to their leader’s house in Sanjay Enclave, Faridabad. A video from outside Bajrangi’s house shows the cow protector, a member of the Bajrang Dal, holding a stick.
A policeman can be seen sitting on a chair a few inches away from the man, who gets up but does nothing to intervene. A man can be heard asking others to turn Shamu towards them, and Bajrangi alias Raj Kumar hits him with a stick at least four times. Police officials said that the mother of one of the girls also hit Shamu with a stick before hitting Bajrangi.
In this regard, the Charan police station in-charge said, we have seen the viral video, we are looking for the person who assaulted, will take appropriate action by registering a complaint, if no complaint comes then we will resort to the video and social media to trace the accused and take action against them.
In July last year, communal violence broke out during a procession organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Nuh, Haryana, which later spread to other areas including Gurugram and Badshahpur. Five people were killed and at least 70 were injured. A mosque was also burnt down and a cleric was among the dead.
