 Navratri 2023 Fifth Day Maa Skandmata : The fifth day of Navratri is dedicated to Skandamata and this form of maa  is considered a symbol of love and snake. Skanda is born from the union of Shiva and Shakti, hence the fifth form of mother is named Skandamata. See the worship method and offering, mantra of Skandamata.

Skandmata is the fifth form of Durga, and she is depicted riding a lion and carrying an infant Skanda (Lord Kartikeya) in her lap. Lord Kartikeya is the son of Shiva and Parvati and is considered the commander of the gods and the deity of war. In this form, Maa Skandmata represents the nurturing and motherly aspect of the goddess.

Devotees worship Maa Skandmata during the fifth day of Navratri. She is believed to bless her followers with wisdom, knowledge, and strength. The name “Skandmata” is derived from “Skanda,” another name for Lord Kartikeya, and “mata,” which means mother. It symbolizes the role of the goddess as the mother of Lord Kartikeya.

During the festival of Navratri, people offer prayers, perform rituals, and sing devotional songs in honor of Maa Skandmata to seek her blessings for the well-being of their families and the removal of obstacles in life.

Maa skandamata swarup 

Maa  Skandamata is a four-armed goddess who is seated on a lion with Lord Kartikeya in her lap. Lotus are beautiful in both the hands of the mother. In this form, Mother is also called Vidyavahini Durga, who is covered with five covers including all knowledge, science, religion, work and agricultural industry. Mother’s face is as bright as the sun. Offering bow and arrow in the worship of Skandamata is also considered auspicious.

Skandmata Ka Bhog

Skandamata loves yellow colored things the most. Therefore, yellow fruits and yellow sweets are offered to him. You can also prepare saffron kheer for Shandmata  on this day. For knowledge and strength, offer 5 green cardamoms to the maa and also offer a pair of cloves.

Yellow color ka mahatva(importance)

Wearing yellow or golden colored clothes is considered auspicious in the worship of Skandamata. Decorate the maa with yellow flowers and offer golden colored clothes to the mother and offer yellow fruits. Yellow color is considered a symbol of happiness and peace and by appearing in this form, maa gives peace to our mind.
