“Hello friends, from #Melody”, is the caption of Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni as she posted a short selfie video showcasing her friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two leaders met on Friday at the end of Prime Minister Modi’s one-day visit to Apulia in southern Italy, during which he thanked the Italian Prime Minister for the invitation to attend the G7 summit. This was his first foreign visit after taking charge for a historic third term as Prime Minister.
Meloni shared this five-second video on her X account on Saturday.
“Hello from the Melody team,” the 47-year-old Italian leader, who is the country’s first female prime minister, said in the video. In this video, 73-year-old Modi is seen laughing behind him.
Re-sharing the video, Prime Minister Modi wrote, “Long live India-Italy friendship!”
Earlier on Saturday, a selfie of the two leaders at the G-7 summit had gone viral.
In December last year, the two leaders took a selfie during the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) in Dubai.
During their bilateral talks here on Friday, the two leaders reviewed the progress of the bilateral strategic partnership and agreed to strengthen cooperation in global fora and multilateral initiatives, including the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.
Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter, “Had a very good meeting with Prime Minister Georgia Meloni.”
After the meeting he said, “We discussed ways to further strengthen India-Italy relations in sectors like commerce, energy, defence, telecom etc. Our countries will work together in future areas like biofuels, food processing and critical minerals “
