The YouTuber has been asked to report to the High Grounds police station within a week. The KPCC alleged that the video attempted to create hatred and enmity between religions.
The Bengaluru police on Thursday filed an FIR against Noida-based YouTuber Ajit Bharti for a video on Rahul Gandhi for allegedly creating enmity between communities. According to a report by NDTV, the action was taken following a complaint filed by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) legal cell secretary Advocate BK Bopanna at the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru.
According to NDTV, the police notice issued to YouTuber Ajit Bharti said, “The video titled ‘Rahul is trying to add fuel to the fire, wants to see Naseeruddin Shah in a skull cap’ is allegedly intended to create feelings of enmity, hatred and ill-will between communities.”
Bopanna alleged that the video attempted to create enmity and hatred between religions.
Following the incident, BJP’s Karnataka unit president BY Vijayendra launched a scathing attack on the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government.
Vijayendra said in the post that though the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated, the police are spending time harassing opposition parties and their supporters in the state.
“Law and order in the state has reached its lowest ebb. Criminals roaming freely, high-profile murder cases and harassment of women have become almost a daily affair, yet the @Siddaramaiah government is not concerned. Instead, the police have been forced to spend their valuable time and resources intimidating and harassing the opposition and our supporters who are fighting for Hindu interests,” Vijayendra posted.
Vijayendra called the move autocratic and expressed his support for Bharati and said the BJP will stand by her, Hindustan Times reported.
“Our team also reached the house soon. After serving the notice, the Karnataka police left from there. Usually, it is a procedure that any police team informs its local counterparts but in this case, that did not happen,” a senior police official in Noida told PTI.
