The YouTuber has been asked to appear for questioning at the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru within a week.
Based on a complaint by advocate BK Bopanna, secretary of the legal cell of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), the Bengaluru police on Thursday sent a notice to Noida-based YouTuber Ajit Bharti for allegedly creating hatred and enmity between religions. The YouTuber has been asked to appear for questioning at the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru within a week.
According to reports, Ajit Bharti has shared a controversial video on his X handle, claiming that Rahul Gandhi wants to get the Babri Masjid rebuilt in Ayodhya once again. The video was titled, “Rahul is trying to add fuel to the fire; Nasir wants Modi in a cap.” The Bengaluru police on Thursday went to Noida and served the notice at the YouTuber’s house in Sector 57.
Speaking to news agency PTI, a senior Karnataka police official said, “Our team also reached the house soon and after serving the notice, Karnataka police left from there. Usually it is a procedure that any police team informs its local counterparts. but in this case it did not happen.”
Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra hit out at the CM Siddaramaiah-led Congress government and called the move ‘dictatorial’. He extended his support to the YouTuber and said the party will stand with him in fighting the case.
In an ex-post, Vijayendra said, “Law and order in the state has reached its lowest ebb. Criminals roaming freely, high-profile murder cases and harassment of women have become almost everyday occurrences, yet the @siddaramaiah government is not concerned. Instead, the police have been forced to spend their valuable time and resources in intimidating and harassing the opposition and our supporters who are fighting for Hindu interests.”
He called Siddaramaiah a ‘puppet in outside hands’.
