Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has moved the Rouse Avenue court seeking regular bail in the Delhi Liquor Excise Policy case. It is expected that the court will hear the matter today at 2 pm.
The development comes a day after the Supreme Court refused to give urgent hearing to Kejriwal’s plea seeking extension of his interim bail by seven days on medical grounds in the money laundering case. A vacation bench of the Supreme Court said the Chief Justice of India will take a decision on listing Kejriwal’s application.
Kejriwal was granted interim bail for 21 days earlier this month to campaign in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. They will have to surrender before the police by June 2, a day after the elections end.
The application states that recent medical tests have revealed increased blood glucose and ketone levels, suggesting possible kidney-related complications and damage.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering probe related to alleged irregularities in the now-repealed Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
